Google +

Google has taken a big step forward with the Google+ option, and we are now able to click the + that we see next to each listing in a search. At first this seems similar to Facebook but there’s actually more to it. With Google+ we can also share with groups of people, somewhat like Facebook, but in some unique ways. Google isn’t inventing a better Facebook, it has some things in common but it is also different. With Facebook people have friends and sometimes start adding some business contacts, then mom and dad. Pretty soon Facebook users have to restrict who can post comments, and they have to be careful about what they post because both clients and parents are watching.

With Google+, we can put people into groups and we make as many groups as we want. So we could have groups with names like “Friends,” “Acquaintances,” “Family,” “Vendors,” “Clients,” “Random People,” and so on. We put people into groups called “Circles” and in that way we control who has access to what.  Now mom can join my family circle and I don’t have to worry about her showing my baby pictures to clients.
